There are aspects to any character, any personality. As one's star sign may be divided into sun, ascendant, and moon, so have I tried to demonstrate two possible aspects of Saelle - as a character, and an extension of self.

luscious red rose [1]
Wire Rimmed Spectacles [1]
Zirconium Stud [1]

amulet of protection [16]
'Music is my life!' shirt [6]
Girth of Ideas [51]
Some Very Loose Sleeves [30]
delicate chain bracelet [21]
ring of truth [25]
opal ring [26]
pair of blue jeans [12]
Pair of Spiked High-Heels [15]
green and white yo-yo [24]
Symbol of Freedom [101]

Saelle started out as a more outgoing, rather bohemian side of my personality. Her first class (on another mud) was Alchemist, and she was always blowing things up. XD While she has turned rather gloomy and rather serious with her entrance into the RL-oriented (rather than RP-oriented) Aardwolf, I've tried to reflect the main aspects of what is supposed to be her (and partly my) personality in this outfit. Original!Saelle would never be caught dead in anything other than medieval wear (;)), but this version is Saelle, after she's entered Aardwolf and stayed for a bit. Aged a little, too. Still a strong character - rather independent - yet with a touch of femininity. I picture Saelle as short, (look at the high heels ;)) with long mahogany hair she twirls up and sticks a stick (or, today, a rose:)) through. Her style of dress is emphatic, striking, yet honest. There are some contradictions within the outfit (e.g. delicate chain bracelet vs spiked high-heels), but Saelle is comfortable with herself so they don't really matter. What is important is that she has strength to protect others, the ideas to make the process fun (though admittedly her creator is rather short on ideas these days :( ), the music to relax to, and the freedom to do all the above.

But even then, there was a touch of melancholy to her -- so I decided that one outfit was not enough to describe the character. The one below has a black and white feel, and reflects the hidden and potentially negative side of Saelle's (and my) personality. It is not exhaustive (I am a very flawed person -wry-) but I've tried to distill the main points. The Saelle here is barefoot, chained, shackled -- while she wishes to be free on the outside, she remains tied on the inside. This is her as a child, as a little girl wishing she had a friend to talk to, instead of that cuddly teddy bear with the fixed smile. As an overprotected girl who hugs Safety to herself while guarding lost innocence - though, if it is there, is it, after all, lost?

Themes below include obsession -- the addictive game, the things I have fixated on over the years. Aardwolf, is, of course, included. -wry- This child has not yet learnt not to feel so much, for things may be taken away far too easily, so she holds on to the hope that her strength of feeling for things will be unbroken. Facing the emptiness of her internal (internet;)) world, she holds onto her hopes that one day, the person who gave her the headphones would return to look for her.

XD I made that up. The headphones, though, do represent Saelle's love for music (which she already shows in her external personality) -- if she lived in the real world, she, like me, would bring her mp3 player whenever she goes out.

Oh dear, it seems I've written half an essay. XD Ah well, pardon verbosity. Thanks for organising, Ikyu! :)

D - Class photo '05: first row | Friday, October 14, 2005

Another drawing inspired by the class photo. This time, Confidence, Langour, Innocence, Astonishment and (mistaken) Flirtatiousness are embodied by the five individuals in the front row. ;) I would sharpen it with Photoshop but I want to wait until I've time to properly ink it in..

P - Seoul ? | Tuesday, April 20, 2004

A/N: The last in the Korea series, I wrote this on the plane too…thinking about Something’s Gotta Give, in which the protagonists find love after, er, a long time..I’m not describing myself, though some of it may have been from my experiences (;))—I think I’m naïve, but not that naïve. So..yeah. Will you? *smiles slightly* One will never know…and I think that, in this poem, I kinda interpreted the quote the wrong way..”to have loved and lost, than never to have loved before.” I focused more on true love and waiting to be loved, so if it seems a bit strange, my apologies. *rueful*

“It’s better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.”

Such a cliché.
But ‘tis a cliché she holds dear,
She whose mother has preached,
That the key to happiness is
A guy who loves her
More than she does him.
She scoffs at the
Absurdity of it all.
So she waits,
Not even sure what she waits for.
Couples saunter by, seen
Through the glass panel of the tea house,
Hands in the back pockets
Of each other’s jeans.

She chews the tip of her pen
Contemplatively, as across the page,
The glance of two in the room meet,

And she dreams, smiling slightly.
A pair enjoys a quiet moment
On the wooden bench
Of an isolated street.

Will you wait for true love?

P - Seoul VI: Through the Looking Glass |

A/N: This was written on the plane, on the trip back from Tokyo to Singapore..(transit from Seoul). Inspired by the movie I’d just watched, “Shattered Glass”, about a reporter who had what I call “invisible friend syndrome”…it’s quite sad. And the acting was not bad – Hayden Christensen managed to portray so many facets of Stephen Glass…Number six in Korea series.

Seoul VI: Through the Looking Glass

The amazing things he sees
Have long since been ignored
By those who shake their heads,
Sometimes derisively,
Sometimes sadly, in pity.
For he sees, sees
What they do not.
Wondrous things, terrible
Premonitions, and deep
Down inside they fear him.
The fear gnaws at them,
All-consuming, though they
Do not realize it, thinking
That leaving him in his
Robin egg’s blue paradise
Will make the unease go away.

So he sits in his lucent
Ever-changing sanctuary.
All-seeing, and un-seeing,
Surrounded by rows
Six-deep of crowds that
Adore him.
Believe in him.

P - Adamantine | Monday, January 05, 2004

A/N: Translation of a thought-provoking Chinese song called tie3 chuang1 (literally, metal window). It’s a very sad song, and one that, with my limited range, I can actually sing, so…heh. The syllables are actually the same as the original song’s, though some content has been changed to hold it all together :D

Adamantine

My heart is filled with a darkness so deep,
Barred by an emptiness far worse in sleep.
A single ray of light I can lay claim to –
Hardly enough, it just won’t do.

When you left it was as if all hope had fled,
As my hands, outstretched, only met windows barred.
If the pain in real-life gets too great to bear,
Just leave me to dream of a past that’s long lost.

The hate I felt for you ebbs gently with Time,
Yet I still feel for you love without rhyme.
Hearing the sad sweet song of two refrains:
Forgiveness, Oblivion, suffused – with – pain.

I had thought I would be free now of all times,
But I woke to feel only cold metal bars.
If reality would be what makes me a man,
Just let me pray for respite in earth-bound hell…
